Connor participated in the raingutter regatta and won first place, he beat all the other kids in his den. They then had the first place winners in each den race the other first place winners in the other dens and he beat them all as well. He must have had a lot of hot air in him that day.

Connor was the lone trick-or-treater this year, he went as Count Dracula. He had a lot of fun and got a lot of candy this year.

I went bowhunting locally in October, and did not see any bucks. I was out the 3rd week in October and 4 does came in to cross the creek about 25 yards away, I made a good shot and the deer went about 80 yards.

While mowing the yard this summer I ran across 5 bunnies in a hole in the yard. The kids put them under the barn to keep the dog away from them and fed them milk for a few days after which they ran off.
Black Swamp Carbine GroupPosted on 10/6/09
I participated in the Black Swamp Carbine Group several times this year. It is a group of guys who get together to shoot carbines and pistols once a month in Sandusky Ohio. The shoot usually consists of several stages and usually involve shooting on the run at cardboad and steel targets at ranges from 20 feet to 300 yards. With ammo prices so high I haven't been shooting this as often.

Chris, Sandy, Aubrey, and Connor spent the evening on the ski slopes snowboarding at Mt. Brighton Ski Resort in Michigan. Aubrey and Connor now have their own snowboards and can't wait to go back when the snow returns.

Sandy, Aubrey, Connor, Allison and Jason spent the day on the ski slopes snowboarding at Mt. Brighton Ski Resort in Michigan. This is their first year snowboarding and they really enjoyed it.

I got to go out about a half dozen times during archery season and had 8 deer in range and saw 2 decent bucks but had no shot opportunities. It seemed like the deer either came by too early or too late in the day. I had vacation scheduled to bowhunt at our annual deer camp in Southern Ohio which was cancelled when the majority of the lab technicians retired. I did get to go out during gun season and killed a doe opening day around 11:30 AM. Not much shooting going on as I don't think near as many people are out hunting anymore. It was cold and snowing off and on, I think I was one of the last hunters out when 3 does crossed the creek and ran towards me. I made a 50 yard shot with my T/C Encore muzzleloader, the deer travelled 50 yards into a nearby thicket before expiring.

I competed in the summer bullseye pistol league out at Auglaize Village. This is a one handed bullseye competition at 25 and 50 yards, I took 1st place in the Marksman class.

Deer Camp @ Wayne National ForestPosted on 11/15/07
I went to deer camp the first week in November, the weather was pretty warm then cooled off at the end of the week. I killed a buck the first night which followed a trail on a hilltop bench about 12 yards away. The deer ran about 60 yards and fell down into a gulley. I also killed a doe in the middle of the week which came by the same tree at about 20 yards. I also tried my hand with a recurve and missed an easy shot at a doe near an old oilwell. We got 4 deer total between the 6 of us. I did not get many pictures because the camera broke during the trip.

We went on vacation the first week of June for 3 years in a row at Muskie Bay Resort in Canada. There are 15-20 2 to 4 bedroom cabins and a general store located on the shores of Rice Lake in Canada. The lake is primarily known for bluegills but there are also bass, walleye, muskie, perch, crappies among other species. We caught over 100 fish each day and spent about 2-3 hours per day cleaning fish. We brought home a cooler full of bluegill fillets.
